DESCRIPTION:
The bird in the image is a male House Sparrow (Passer domesticus). It exhibits the characteristic grey crown, reddish-brown nape (back of the neck) extending behind the eye, a streaky brown and black back, and pale, greyish-white underparts. Its stout body and conical bill are typical for this species, which is a very common visitor to backyard bird feeders, often seen foraging for seeds.
